Silica: a natural mineral present in the body that keeps our skin hydrated.  As we age, however, the amount of silica in our tissues decreases.

Silica repairs collagen and elasticity, by increasing levels of the key amino acid hydroxyproline. Silica is also used in many facial products because of its light diffusing properties and natural absorbency.  Make-up artists love it because it also mutes the appearance of lines and pores.

As a natural anti-inflammatory, silica helps with eczema and psoriasis.
